Snodland Carnival Saturday 11th July 2009
News Articles - Events
A major annual event for Snodland, the carnival has been running for many years and is well supported by the local community. Having been awarded the runner-up prize for our float at last year's carnival, we were determined to do better this time round.

On hearing that the theme would be Countries of the World we started preparations for our entry, the Isle of Man - not so much a country but we needed something that included a motorbike!!
FAB Ladies took responsibility for designing and creating the float, on the back of Kevin R's car transporter, and on the day it looked fabulous. The static display included a CBR600 complete with dummy rider, in full leathers (and a good job she was - who on earth sourced an inflatable doll?) and three lady members dressed as a TT participant, the Fairy Bridge fairy and the wishing tree. Very well done to Dawn, Sharon and Jan.
On the day the float was dressed while others put up the FAB stand at the community centre.
At 1pm the judging of floats took place, and guess what? We got second place again. Never mind, there's always next year. The carnival procession slowly made its' way through the village with Brian carrying the Mayor of Tonbridge & Malling, together with the chairman of Snodland Town Council, on his superb V-Max trike.
As the floats arrived at the community centre the field buzzed with activity and hundreds of people followed to watch the arena displays and chat with stall-holders.
The FAB stand was again well attended, with many bikes and FAB members on hand to chat with the attending crowd. Andy C and KB manned the PA and announced the arena entertainment, earning valuable brownie points for the club!! Luckily the weather stayed dry, albeit overcast, and an enjoyable afternoon was had by all. Thanks to all FAB members who created the float, set up on the day and manned the stand during the afternoon.
Thank you KB for the article
FAB Chairman would like to thank Sharon, Dawn, Jan,  Karen, Kevin B, Kevin R,  for their hard work on the float and for the club stand JV, Brian, Rod, Kevin B and Kevin R and Roy who is not a club member.  A thank you to Brian for raising the profile of the club by leading the procession.
